i'm back!!!!

Yup yup, sorry for the lag in blogging. Been busy with birthdays, chalets, movies, ktv-ing, getting drunk and the usual stuff.. Oh, and work of coz. Lolz. Plus there was this LITTLE problem I had to settle which I do not wish to speak of. Or should I say can't. When I first learnt of it, I wished I had the guts to kill myself. Which of coz, I'm so glad I didn't because I've learnt so many valuable lessons from it. (Plus I realised I still love living no matter how shitty things get. I stand firm in what I believe in; when there's life, there's hope.)

Firstly, a friend in need is truly a friend indeed. To those of you who know what I'm talking about, thanks so much for all the support and help. You know I love you guys. I can't even begin to mention how much. Secondly, money IS definately the root of all evil which links to the third, being, I really should stop being so fucking naive stupid.

Well, you know what they say.. Bad things come in threes. Although that's only two.. wait a minute, I guess the break-up can't be considered a bad thing. My bad. We never really understood each other anyway, even more so now. It's just the memories which has to be locked away. Next time I must really look before I leap. But it's funny how when something bad happens, it helps us to get over what we thought was bad before that. It's time people start thinking positive and be glad the worst shit hasn't happened. Ok, I know I'm starting to sound uncomprehensible, so basically, I'm just trying to say be grateful for what you have coz there are people with worse fates around.

Anyway, my problems are in the midst of being settled, but I kinda was thinking and couldn't sleep and I have to wake up at 8am later, so the best solution would be not to sleep of coz. Time to catch up on my blogging and since I've abandoned my post about Thumper, the very least I can say is.. they have free flow on ladies' night! Although I did hear from Lynn, who was the one who intro-ed the place, that they're like under renovation or something so you might wanna double check before going down.

Ok, that's it. Guess I'm gonna try go sleep now.

Haha. Just kidding!!! God, I don't know whats making me so hyper at this time of the night. Anyway, I think the Australia post is long overdue so here goes.. (As usual, I'll try to let the pictures do the talking.)

The flight there..

My mum on one side..
and my act-cool-but-actually-super-excited bro on the other!
HAPPY!

touchdown!

It was drizzling when we reached. Such a bleak welcome.. But nothing could spoil our moods! We rented 2 cars (for 3 'children' and 3 couples) but I forgot to take pictures of the car! They were both Toyota, one 8 seater and one normal one.

First stop was Gold Coast Surfers Paradise Ipanema Apartments, the place we stayed at for about half the time in Australia. I loved it! My family took one unit, which has two bedrooms and TWO TOILETS!!!!

living room

kitchen

swimming pool and jacuzzi!

a stove and sink in my very own room!!!

Ok, I took this photo afew days into our stay there so that explains the messiness. And yes, I joined the two beds together coz I was a little scared at night. Heh. Not as scared as I was in Thailand though. It just seemed more black magic-y and ghostly and eerie there than in Australia. Plus of coz there was the dubious looking 'hotel' and all. This apartment? Just awesome.

The balcony outside our room was where I'd smoke at night. I only smoked like twice a day there, but I guess that was bad enough considering that the last time I went to Paris with my dad and his friends I wasn't even a smoker. Then again, that was like 5 years ago. Anyway, isn't the view just soooo nice?? I totally loved the apartment.

where we had our first meal in aussie!

Went for Sat evening mass. The church that we went to seemed like a small community where everyone was nice and friendly. Yes, I know I look like a total fashion disaster but it was freaking cold there can?!! I couldn't wait to get back to Singapore's weather! But now it's so hot la. Hai.. It's true that humans are all fan jian. But I think I can really tolerate heat more than cold.

Day 2

Went to visit my grandaunt in Brisbane. My mother's 2 cousins were so hospitable! They came all the way to Gold Coast to fetch us and sent us home at the end of the day. And trust me, it is a super long and ass-numbing trip from one place to the other. I think it took like 3-4 hours. I dunno, I was sleeping throughout most of the journey.

They even cooked laksa for us for lunch! AND offered me spaghetti when I told them I couldn't really eat spicy food. That was after they exclaimed disbelief that someone with paranakan blood couldn't eat chilli. For the benefit of those of you who don't know, I think I can't eat spicy food coz when I young my mum would always threaten to put chilli in my mouth whenever I said something foul. And she'd really do it. Hmm. Maybe I should do that to my kids. Haha!

in my grandaunt's house

her ultra big garden

After lunch, we went to Mount Cootha, which is some mountain top la. Check out the view..

It was breath-taking. I can't wait to go to Switzerland and see what it's like there! Anyway, they had 2 cafes there and even though it was cold, it's never too cold for ice-cream! I ate chocolates and ice-cream there everyday!! Which is why I came back pimply(still trying to get rid of the last few pimples) and 5kg heavier(which i've since lost again thank god)!!

Then we went to some park which reminded me of sentosa but abit smaller and less entertainment.

After that, went for dinner! Yes, half our time there was spent eating.

Looks like a supermarket right? But it's actually a place where you can choose your seafood fresh and they cook it on the spot for u!! If you want also can buy it home and cook yourself la, but people cook for you why don't want?

Day 3

We're going to DreamWorld!! 'We' being my brother, Daniel and me!! There was a short debate about whether to go DreamWorld(my brother wanted to see the animals. *rolls eyes*) or MovieWorld(i wanted to see some STARS.) Daniel was like neutral and I realised MovieWorld was mostly just normal people dressed up as superheroes/cartoon characters, so DreamWorld it was.

First, breakfast of course. We went to Surfer's Paradise where they had Macs and this place called Hungry Jacks which I found super familiar..

BK anyone?
I kept exclaiming that it was a BK imitation till I looked closely at my orange juice cup and realised that its licensed under BK. But why they renamed it is something I pondered about for a good half hour or so while eating. And I still don't understand why. The mysteries of life.. Anyway, the food was much better than Singapore's BK. They had hotcakes and nice wraps with bacon and egg!

After that filling breakfast, we went to DreamWorld not once thinking that we might puke after sitting the rides.(we didn't la but still.. we could have!)

The 120m drop in the background. Genting seems mild compared to this!

The first 'ride' we took.

The first few rides we sat were all abit kiddish coz my bro's a wimp!(jace now i know how you felt)So the first thriller of the day was this 360-degree spinning ride. Chris didn't take the ride so he helped to take photos. Can see me?

I'm on the exteme right next to Daniel.

It was heart-stopping can?! When it flings you downwards from the top all you have is the filmsy safety lock to keep you from dropping dead onto the ground! I kept praying throughout the whole thing and gripped the handlebars so hard that my nails dug into my palm.

Look at the imprints! Lucky my bro never take with us sia.. He has asthma and smartly forgot to bring his inhaler along, I scared wait he hyperventilate. Lolz.

Another thrill ride which we took called 'The Claw'

This one not scary, but the feeling super shiok. Abit like Viking but nicer! Then we went to see the animals.. First, we went to see a REAL tiger show. There was one white tiger which is supposedly on the brink of extinction and one.. normal tiger.

That day, I learnt that tigers actually can climb trees, so if you ever get chased by one, don't bother climbing a tree ok..? Next, on to the koala bears and kangeroos.. *yawn* I took a pic with a koala bear before when I was young so I didn't bother taking another. Have to pay AUD$20 lehz! Somemore after that my bro complained that he smelled of pee. Haha!

I know it looks harmless but its scary lehz! I saw 2 kangeroos fighting just a few minutes before we attempted to touch them and they looked like they could attack us any moment. And those people just let them loose all around the park. So dangerous lor!

The last ride that we took was a water ride so we had to endure a cold and wet and long journey back home. But it was all worth it coz once we reached the apartment we jumped into the nice and warm jacuzzi! Bliss.

Day 4

Started out with one of the best breakfasts ever! It was at this award-winning pie place which also had mouth-watering pastries(in a variety of colours!) and super refreshing juices!

yummy!!

Then we headed down to Surfer's Paradise to chill at the beach awhile.

My dad is so funny. The water so cold he still die die wanna go in then still try to pull people in.. Lolz. But surprisingly there were still some people surfing there and stuff. Guess they're used to the weather there la. I just cam-whored and then sat there and took in the FRESH air and great scenery. =)

Then we went crabbing!!! Or at least that's what we were told we were gonna do.. 'Catch crabs.'

We sailed for abit then somewhere in the middle we were surrounded by these birds and the crew(there were ony 2 of them) gave us some small slimy dead fish to feed them. It was quite fun la, just throw the fish in the air and the birds would immediately fly up to gobble them up.
my mother wants to be captain!
Then we sailed to the place where we were supposed to catch the crabs, but guess what? Apparently their definition of 'crabbing' is to set the traps like dunno how many days beforehand and when we reached there all we did was pull up the traps!! Nonsense.
The crabs we 'caught'

But in all fairness, after that we got to dig for yabbies and go fishing!! What are yabbies you ask? They are fish bait which look like a cross between prawns and lobsters but the mini mini version! Yabbies!

I know the picture doesn't match my description but in real life they really do look like what I described!!! Ok, I shall go and find a more accurate picture from wiki.

See!

The most interesting part was how we caught the yabbies. Before we went on this whole crabbing thingy, my dad assured me we wouldn't have to step into the lake. But it was a lie!! We had to go knee deep into the possibly crocodile infested water to catch the yabbies! Ok la, I could have chosen not to do it, but why miss out the fun right? Lucky I didn't watch [Rogue Crocodile]. =x

We used the pump to suck the sand and sift it in the sifting tray and we'll get the yabbies which were hiding in the sand! Sounds simple right? I only caught 2. =(

Luckily the weather was not that cold on that day. After that they let us fish for a pathetic 45 minutes.

At least one of us managed to catch something. They told us there was a rule in that state of Australia where the fish actually had to be over or under a certain weight then can bring home, if not have to throw back in. Luckily our fishy met the requirements so they cleaned it for us and packed it up. We ate it for supper later that night..

After that, they cooked the crabs for us (we had to pay an extra AUD$10 each if we wanted to eat but it was worth every cent!!) and we had a very yummilicious meal of crabs and oysters!!! It was damn fresh and succulent!!! Thinking about it makes me hungry.. I want seafood!!!!!

Then we went to some fruit and vegetable farm where the adults (i know technically i'm also supposed to be considered an adult but i was hanging with the teens!) went crazy over cheap avocadoes and other green stuff. I was bored stiff so i ate 2 ice creams while we were there. Yup, 5kg alert!
Day 5

Went for breakfast at Mac's(!!) then took a flight to Adelaide. I have made a pact with myself that I'm gonna try eating Mac in all the other countries that I visit coz they have such special different stuff! Check out this one..

McAmerica looks good.....and so do all the other limited edition burgers! AND CHECK OUT THEIR MAC CAFE!!!!

It looks so much more scrumptious than ours! But luckily ours not like that if not I'll be much much fatter!

Droolworthy

When we were at the airport waiting for the flight, Daniel bought hokkien mee for freaking AUD$13!!!!!!

It was small and he says it was 'ok only'. Lolz. Well, everything must be tried once I guess.

When we reached our Aunt's place in Adelaide we received a very warm welcome with.. surprise surprise.. a whole tableful of good food like chicken, beef, lamb, veggies, mash potatoes, corn.. and afew other things. That's almost like eating at Carnivore! How to not put on weight there I ask you?

This is only when 3/4 the courses were served.. Dessert was custard pudding. Heaven.. Then my brother and I went over to our cousin's house to stay and this was our nice room..Its actually our 2 baby nieces room but I didn't wanna sleep alone so they moved to some other room.. Hehe..

Sooo CUTE right?! Just adore them!

Day 6

We went for a picnic which was madness in the icy cold weather! It was even colder there than in Gold Coast! Daytime around 14 degrees and as low as 6 degrees at night. Brr.

Then we walked around the shops in that little german themed town. Got ALOT of sweet and chocolate shops lor! First was this chocolate shop which had cute phrases stuck on the wall..

how true

Then there was this totally awesome candy shop which looked like it came right out of an Enid Blyton book. I finally got to see all the sweets I could only read about, like humbugs and macaroons and honeycombs and licorice! Ok, I know Singapore also have, but not in such a quaint shop and altogether in one place! Candy Empire is so.. blah.

Day 7

Went to visit some boring herbal place where this guy was giving a little talk on the plants that he grew. On the bright side, we went wine tasting after that! Free wine!!!

Cold cold cold!

Naiii-ohhh-mieeeee

Doesn't my mum just look so.. tiny in that big oversized coat?

I love the name of this wine! It tastes good too.

Life sized wine bottle

A real fireplace!

The view of the wine valley was splendid but sadly, I dunno why I can't find any pictures of it now.

After that, we went to this place called the Whispering Wall. It's like a huge concave bridge/wall where you whisper at one end and the person at the other end can hear you. Cool or what?

One side of the wall was a river and this was on the other side. It would've been abit scary to look down for someone afraid of heights.

Then we went shopping!! They had lotsa clubbing clothes on sale as it was winter there. Yay! In between we went to the arcade and their arcade is super big lor! Had everything from all the old school games like water pistol shooting to new stuff like Initial D and even bumper cars! But the best thing I saw was this..

Deal or No Deal!!! Hahahaha.. I tried playing but only won like 5 tickets. =\

Dinner was at Hog's Breath Cafe, where apparently they cook the steak for EIGHTEEN hours. It was gooood. I must go try the Singapore one and see how it stacks up against the original.

Corona salt and pepper shakers!
They had a playroom for kids..
...and their toilet signs were.. interesting.
That was our last night so I begged my mum to allow my brother to go clubbing and my nice cousin Ty brought us around. Went to 2 clubs and another place. Damn fun till I got dead drunk and just wanted to lie down. The fun was coz its another country, but Singapore clubbing scene definately more happening!

Can you spot the extra large margarita? Shared by 5 people!

Day 8

Going home day.. Best part? I had a bloody huge hangover and only slept for one hour! So on the way to the airport and while waiting for the flight I had to put up with major headaches and nauseousness. Told myself no drinking and smoking once I reach Singapore, but well.. Heh.

Bye bye my favourite niece, Caitlyn! She looks so cutely blur.

Oh yah, forgot to mention one more thing I've been doing. Watching [How I Met Your Mother]!!! That's what I was doing while waiting for all those pics to upload. Damn funny la the show. Thanks to Cammie who passed me season 1. For those of you who don't have such nice/un-busy(i know there's no such word but if I say free won't you get the wrong idea?) friends, you can always watch it on http://www.fanpop.com/. They have EVERY nice series you can think of there. If it's not there, well.. it's not nice!

P.S. I took TWO WEEKS to complete this entry and I think I just broke my longest entry record!! Hey! Are you.. Sleeping?? Anyway, I promise I'll try to blog short entries more often instead of MIA-ing and then dropping a super long entry on you all k!
