The Cathay 75 Years anniversary promo ends with 75 disgruntled patrons

Ok, I know I haven't blogged for very long coz I've been busy and lazy as usual but what happened today made me so pissed off I have to blog about it!!

Jace told me about the promotion where we could get 75 movie tickets for $75 about a month ago, and we were so excited about it that I took leave just to go queue for the tickets which had to be bought at 10am today. However, she realised she couldn't go at the last minute so I pulled another 2 unfortunate friends of mine to go with me.

This was the promo (taken from cathay's website) :

Purchase 75 movie passes* at only $75!

Be among the first 75 patrons at The Cathay Cineplex (Level 5 box office)

From 1st October 2010

Terms & Conditions

Packages are available for sale only at The Cathay Cineplex.

Limited to the 1st 75 customers and are valid only while stocks last.
Limited to one (1) 75-movie pass package* per customer.
Not valid with other discounts and promotions at Cathay Cineplexes.
The Management reserves the right to amend any terms of this promotion without prior notice.

So we reached there about 2+ am (we actually went to cine first but realised it was wrong info given by jace, the person on duty there was not very helpful and didn't seem to know much about the promo either) and when my friend parked his car, we realised there was an entrance from the car park to the building. However, when we talked to the security guard we were told that people would only be allowed in from 9am onwards from ONE entrance to start queueing.

Thinking that the security would have it under control, we walked to the front of The Cathay where there was already a queue. The first group of people who were queueing were really nice and they told us that they wanted everything to be orderly and formed a queue. They even stuck a sign on the wall!!

This was way more efficient than Cathay management can ever hope to be. All they had was a sign at certain entries stating that doors open at 9am and ticket sales start at 10am, which is fine IF they actually acted according to the sign but..

3am. We talked, smoked, ate junk food.

4am. We played with our handphones.

5am. Our handphone batteries died. We grew restless.

6am. The queue grew longer, probably hit 75 people around that time. We were sleep deprived.

7am. Our butts and backs ached and we started counting down.

8am. Another guy in the queue spoke to all of us asking us to go into the building in a civilised manner as the first 75 of us in the queue outside had already written our names down on a list passed around by the first group to ensure we would get the tickets.

8.30am. The Cathay management finally let us queue outside the glass door entrance. By then, this was the queue.

Yes, it was already wayyy past 75 people but at least these people bothered queueing in an orderly manner.

9am. Two women from Cathay came and shouted fiercely at the front people. Could not really hear what they were saying but they were behaving like total bitches. Some people were trying to cut queue also. Anyway, finally the doors opened and we were all so happy that we would finally get what we waited for so long! Some people even ran up the escalators coz the lifts were overcrowded.

SO, can you imagine our total dismay and anger when we reached Level 5 and there were already like 100 over people in the queue?!!?! Omg I'm so pissed just thinking about it now la!!! How the hell did those people get up there if Cathay did their job and made sure that ONLY ONE ENTRANCE? Well, obviously not through that one entrance as we can see by the comments below.

Obviously we were unhappy. We queued for 8 freaking hours! Some of them even up to 12 hours!! We thought Cathay had a proper system. We thought wrong.

So we (the original 75 queueing) went to the front of the queue and started questioning the management. Words were shouted here and there and everyone was getting really upset and all the management could tell us was that they already had the first 75 people. Way to make an angry crowd even angrier, Cathay! Best part is, the 2 fierce looking Cathay women staff took the list of the 75 names and the Theatre Manager didn't even know who they (the staff) were when he was questioned!!! Laughable right? Since then the list has mysteriously disappeared and a new one has been made.

After lotsa chaos, Cathay called the police in (LOL) and the Theatre Manager, Mr Jeevan, said he would speak to afew of us to find out what was happening. We waited another TWO hours (during which the press from Straits Times and TNP came to interview us) while he talked to them and when he came out, he said he would escalate this issue and would email all of us within 48 hours with a satisfactory reply on this issue.

Honestly, the only satisfactory reply would be for us to have the tickets. And I really really hope they do coz I would hate to boycott Cathay, but trust me, I'm so angry I'd probably do it.

More pledges!

My parents have looked at my blog and they have decided to pledge too! Haha.

Here are their pledges..

My mum pledges to cook once a week (yay! i <3 home cooked food!!!!)

My dad pledges to bring us for family outings once a fortnight (movies movies movies!! and maybe cycling..)

Hope this coming family day will be a successful one!

I pledge to spend more time with my family!

You know how I always go on and on about how we should spend more time with our family while we can? Well, sometimes I tend to forget that and recently I was thinking I must put aside at least 2 days of the week for them, especially my parents, since I already spend so much time with my brother.

Incidentally, Nuffnang is collaborating with the National Family Council and is giving away tickets to local attractions for a fun-filled family day to selected people who make the pledge!

So, my pledge is to spend at least one weekday and one weekend having dinner with my family and to visit my grandma at least once a fortnight. No matter how busy we are, we should all spend a little time with our families to bond because they are the most important people in our lives. I know I keep saying it but really, don't wait till its too late to regret.

NATIONAL FAMILY CELEBRATIONS 2010 (NFC 2010)

Organised by the National Family Council, National Family Celebrations is an annual event which celebrates and reinforces the importance of families and family life. This year, Singaporeans are encouraged to make a personal commitment to their families by being a part of the Singapore Family Pledge Movement.

To provide opportunities for Singaporeans to follow through on the pledges to their families, there are a myriad of activities under the NFC 2010 calendar – which will interest the young, the old, and everyone in between! Why I Have Not Been Blogging Excuse #207

I don't have a computer to blog with!!!

Yes I know that sounds pathetic but its true ok!! My bro's laptop is spoiled, my shared computer which I'm using now is so freaking laggy it takes 75mins to watch an episode of [How I Met Your Mother] which is like 20mins, and I even tried going to blogger on my phone but it doesn't load. *sigh*

So here I am, testing my patience with this lousy computer, but its actually pretty ok today. I definitely can't load any photos though, will take forever. So I shall not promise to blog about the India trip but I will try k! If no posts about it in 3 months means no posts about it forever!

Congrats to Alifya and Nadeem though! Can't believe one of my girls is married!! Happy for her, scared for myself. LOL.

Other short updates..

Work is good! I will blog more about it another time but I like it coz time passes fast, my colleagues are nice (I have to say this coz they're stalking my blog haha[jk la they're really nice!]) and its FREAKING NEAR MY HOUSE!! Though I always don't go home after work.. Lol. But I miss my Jennie Lee Bao Bao!! Haha. And the other HSBC girls..

I saw JANG GEUN SUK!!! He's freaking hawt la!!!!!!!! Ok I think he deserves an entire post so will blog about that another time too.

Other than that, I'm back at BQ tentatively, I've been clubbing and L4D-ing as usual, don't really have much time for anything else.

Oh ya.. And I've watched almost every movie there is. Hahaha.

Keke, time to sleep soon. *sigh* I hate office hours.

Haha. Night!

the interview

Just came back from an interview. First thing i wanna get off my chest?

THE RECEPTIONIST WAS A TOTAL BITCH!

Ok, maybe she wasn't a bitch to me per se but she was just a bitch in general k! I walked in, smiled at her, told her I was looking for the HR person and she just looked back at me sour-faced(would have been quite pretty if she even gave a semblance of a smile), and took out four sheets of paper, passed them to me WITHOUT SAYING A WORD. I mean, ok la, its common sense that I should fill up the application form but shouldn't she at least tell me out of basic courtesy? God.

So I looked through the four pages and the first 2 were the basic details about yourself. Then I saw the next 2 pages I nearly fainted. One was a plain sheet of paper asking me to "write a paragraph about myself". That I could handle. The other one looked exactly the same but it was in chinese!! And I wasn't sure if the instructions were the same but I assumed they were from what little sense I could make out of it. After I finished filling up everything except the chinese form, I went to the receptionist and asked if I still needed to fill up the chinese form since I filled up the english one. Unfortunately, she said yes.

I spent the next 10 minutes thinking about what I knew how to write in chinese and ended up with one sentence. 我是一个很喜欢跟别人讲话的人. (I just looked for that whole sentence using online pin yin dictionary. My pin yin is actually damn good. If I could've written the description in pin yin I could've written alot more!) Anyway, I know it sucks but at least I attempted SOMETHING right?

Oh ya, one more thing I forgot to mention is that I REALLY wanted the job(coz its damn near my house, haha) thats why I put in so much effort. If it were any other job I would've probably fucked it and handed up a blank sheet of paper.

Anyway, after that was interviewed by the HR and then the project manager AND THEN still made to do a written test but I passed!! The HR exec told me I was shortlisted and would liase with the recruitment agency about the pay. =D

Pray that I get the pay I want k! Will update again soon!! =)

P.S. I know there's a possibility that the bitch in question might one day see this but well, hope not! Lol.

When in Rome..

..do as the Romans do!

Okok, this is actually a Nuffnang movie contest to catch the show.

"An ambitious young New Yorker (Kristen Bell), disillusioned with romance, takes a whirlwind trip to Rome where she defiantly plucks magic coins from a ‘foolish’ fountain of love, inexplicably igniting the passion of an odd group of suitors: a sausage magnate (Danny Devito), a street magician (Jon Heder), an adoring painter (Will Arnett) and a self-admiring model (Dax Shepard). But when a charming reporter (Josh Duhamel) pursues her with equal zest, how will she know if his love is the real thing?"

I think Beth(Kristen Bell) should be with Nick(Josh Duhamel) because..

1. He's hot!
2. He's a reporter, I like that.
3. He's the main actor, he'd end up with her ANYWAY.

And as for the 3 things I want in my partner.. Well, last time when I was younger people would ask me," What kinda guy do you like? " and all I could answer was," Ah Bengs! ". Lol. But as years go by, I now know what I want.

1. Someone who is close/filial to his parents.
2. Someone with a kind heart but a little bit of toughness for that bad boy feel (yes i can't get over the ah bengs totally!)
3. Someone who has a group of close friends just like me. (somehow i just prefer the ones with one group of close friends over the ones with many friends but none are close)

Yup, that would probably the top 3 criteria. Haha.

Catch When In Rome Movie starting from 25th March 2010 and join the official Facebook and Twitter page!

P.S. Join and you could win tickets too!

at the risk of sounding cliche..

Ok, I know I haven't blogged for very long. More on that later.

I went to SGH to visit my friend today. He was shot while in Thailand for military training and his eyesight might be affected. On my way there, while I was there and after I came back, alot of thoughts passed through my head but the one that kept replaying was, "treasure what you have now". And I'm sure all my other friends who were there were thinking the same thing.

But why is it that it takes a mishap for us to think that way? I guess being human, we tend to take things for granted and we only realise how important certain things/people are to us when we are on the verge of losing/have already lost it.

So, stop complaining about how sucky life is and be grateful for the little things we tend to take for granted like bring able to walk and talk freely and having a fully abled body. Treat the people who are close to you the way they are supposed to be treated. Alot of people tend to be more rude to their family members (i'm one of them), simply because we know they love us so much and will never hold it against us. But they deserve better than that, don't they?

Treasure what you have; be it your own well-being or the people around you. And to my friend, hope you get well soon.

Ok, enough sappy talk. Short update.. I know its been a long time since I've blogged and this time I shall not give any excuses. I've been lazy!!! And I can't really say I've been busy with work coz I have not been working for one week already. Haha, yes I've served my notice and am finally out of that hellhole! After me, another 2 girls quit. Lol. So, now I'm slacking/looking for a new job. Of coz been partying alot but money's running low already. *sigh*

Oh ya, also haven't been blogging coz nobody's tagging anymore and if it wasn't for my statistics counter, I'd have thought nobody's reading my blog anymore! Those who read tag leh! Hehe.

K la, gonna sleep soon. TAG ok?!!!

my two new loves

Hey guys, sorry have not blogged for so long again!! Been quite busy with school and projects and partying and drinking. Haha. Just a quick update.. I tendered my resignation!! Damn happy about it la.

Have been hating my job more and more everyday. The people who call in can be the most FUCKING unreasonable people ever lor. Seriously, I really admire those people who can stay in customer service for years. You all should know I don't even really have a temper and yet I can still feel like telling those idiots who call in and complain to fuck off and hang up on them! Its too much negative aura there, I don't like it.

Went for interview at Sisley and going for second interview soon. Yes, back to what I love ; beauty products. Hope the pay will be enough to sustain me!! Okok.. back to my 2 new loves.. Haha..

First one is FT Island!! Of coz a VERY VERY BIG part of why I love them is my yummilicious Lee Hong Ki!!! He's oh-so-freaking-cute! But after watching ALOT of vids of them I kinda like the rest too.. After all, they all have the pretty boy look that korean stars seem to have. 90% probably plastic but still cute! Lol.

And and and.. I heard FT Island is coming back again in March! I was so disappointed last week that I couldn't see them at all so this time I'm gonna save in advance to go to their concert! Hope it doesn't clash with the dates I'm going to India (for alifya's wedding!! more about that another time) and hope my departure dates coincides with theirs so that I can have Hong Ki all to myself in transit!! *dreaming*

Yes yes I'm still stuck in one of those childish fan girl worlds. Tsk. I also can't believe that I'm 25! =x

K la! Second thing is not as exciting now that I've blogged about FT Island. But.. I just did my first overseas online purchase!! Bought 10 items from Forever 21 for $137. HAPPY!!! But also broke. Thank God CNY is coming. Ang pows and gambling! Yay! Haha. Hope I don't get addicted to online shopping though. It takes the joy out of shopping and I will be broke without even leaving my house!

Ok, more updates soon.. Gonna get ready for butter now.. =)

New Year Resolutions with a Twist!

Hah, I'm late in writing this entry which already broke one resolution; stop procrastinating! And just by writing this entry I'm breaking another resolution; to sleep early! Damn. Why am I even blogging this entry again? Lol.

ANYWAY. You know how people say that resolutions should not be done 'coz you usually just stick to it for the first quarter of the year, and if you really wanna make a resolution you can do so anytime?

Well, I like to do it at New Year 'coz if I fail, there's always some buffer time before I start trying again.. BUT! I will not fail this time 'coz I'm gonna make a whole list of resolutions with at least one I know I can keep!

*Deep breaths* Here goes..

1. I will quit smoking. In 6 months.

I have been trying to quit smoking since I started. Haha. And I've read up so much on quitting one thing I know is you have to do it slowly. So for starters, I'm gonna cut down.. Last year I quit for the first 10 days and then started again. This year I have been cutting down alot!! I only smoke one pack in like 3-4 days now. Partly 'coz there's no time to smoke during my 'new' job! Next month I'm gonna smoke one pack in 7 days, 2 weeks in March, 3 weeks in April and May.. And by June I would've quit!! *Fingers crossed* Anyway I already have a pact with my brother to pay him $10 for every stick I smoke in front of him.. Maybe I should open that offer to everyone? Lol. Don't you just wish?

2. I will sleep earlier.

This is one of my saddest resolutions. As much as I hate it, I AM getting old. I actually feel tired if I don't sleep for a day! *sigh* The horror. So, to ensure my health and skin does not get any worse, I will TRY to sleep before 1am everyday. *sobz* By the way everyday meaning Sun-Thurs. =D

3. I will go to the gym twice a week!

Once I actually make payment for my membership. =x I must go la if not so wasted lor!!

4. I will stop liking younger guys.

As alot of my friends have advised. I suddenly see the reasoning behind it. This is one resolution I am quite sure I can keep. Oh ya, Lee Hong Ki not counted ok! And all the other celebrities.. Hehe. =X God. I am so childish!!! Which brings me to..

5. I will act my age.

Also another resolution I am sad about. And this is one I really find hard to keep! Hahaha. But by acting my age I mean be more responsible and stop procrastinating.

Ok, I feel depressed already. Lol. Yup, thats it.. All I have to do is keep one resolution and I would have proved those people-who-say-resolutions-are-BS wrong!

1am. Time to sleep!! =D

P.S. I sooooo wanted to go Supperclub tonight!!! Free flow of Baileys, apple shots, lychee martinis and JAGERBOMBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which other club gives free flow of Jagerbombs?!! None I tell you!! None!! =(

Ok, night! =)
