What's the line between ethical and unethical?

Ok, I was just gonna sleep when this caught my eye in the Facebook live feeds. For those of you who are too lazy too read, basically Mr Brown was more or less ridiculing the Marketing team at Channel News Asia for sending out a mass email asking the recipients to book advertising slots during their coverage on the Japan tsunami. Tons of people have commented on the post, mostly slamming the sender as well, saying he is unethical, insensitive, no compassion, etc.

So, I kinda always prided myself as being quite ethical, but why is it that I feel that CNA is not doing any wrong? Is it really so unethical of them to just do their job?? Advertisements are where they get a main portion of their profits from what! If they're not allowed to earn from bad news, and I bet more than half the news reports are bad, then they might as well just close down! Or just report the good news? I mean, it's not like they're harming anyone or they caused the damn earthquake lor. Like one person commented, their coverage might have made some people aware of the situation or provided information on how to help/donate money. Yes, the email could've been a little more sympathetic instead of gleeful sounding, but come on la, who gives you the right to judge anyway?

I can't stand self-righteous people sometimes. You really feel sad then go there and help or donate a significant amount of money la. I dunno, maybe I just don't see what's so wrong about it.

Anyway, God bless Japan and be thankful we live in a safe country!
